The Florida Sporting Life 2024 Agreement and Contract

College Football Regular Season Picks

Picks are due each week before the kickoff of the first game. Be mindful that there will be some weeks that contain a game/some games before Saturday.

  • Each week we will have ten (10) total picks. There will be eight (8) straight up winners for you to choose. The remaining two (2) of your picks will be defined as:

    • One pick will be an Over/Under pick. This means you will be given the betting line for how many total points will be scored between both teams, and you choose whether you believe that total will be over or under that number. A half-point kicker is always added to avoid a push (tie). The betting line will be as determined by the commissioner, either an internal choice or, more likely, a line set by a Las Vegas casino.

    • One pick will be a Spread pick; this means you will be given the betting line for how many points the underdog will be rewarded at the games conclusion; you will then pick the team you believe will have the higher score once those points are added. A half-point kicker is always added to avoid a push (tie). The betting line will be as determined by the commissioner, either an internal choice or, more likely, a line set by a Las Vegas casino.

      • There is simple math that can be figured with the point spread, and you may even be able to draw from a personal example. For instance, Brandon would be given a 25.5-point lead in EA Sports College Football 25 against Jarad Johnson. Jarad is a more experienced and better player, making Jarad the favorite in this game, so Brandon gets a head start as the underdog. i.e. BRANDON +25.5 vs. JARAD -25.5

  • Standings and player picks will be posted weekly as time permits.

  • The challenge will run through the end of the regular season, which will include the conference title games and any other games that same week. The commissioner reserves the right to end the contest sooner if need be; previous seasons have required this. The commissioner and co-commissioner will rule in the event an unforeseen event arises, and keep all team members up-to-date.

    Conference Champions Challenge

A Conference Champions Challenge will be set in place at the beginning of the season. All picks for this will be due before the kickoff of the first College Football game of the season. The scoring is calculated as follows:

    • 3 Points are awarded for each correct conference champion picked

    • 1 point is awarded for each pick that either (a) finishing in 2nd place in their conference or (b) makes an appearance in the title game (if that conference has a title game only)

Bonus Points

A one-time bonus will be offered for the first time in 2024. It can be completed any time before the kickoff of the first game of Week 14 of the Regular Season Picks. Two bonus points will be awarded to any Florida Sporting Life member that calls (not texts) Brandon and answers the following question:

“If I could go back and change any one game from a loss to a win, it would be the game against _____ in the year ____, and the reason I would pick that game is ______.”

Final Standings

The final standings will be determined as follows:

REGULAR SEASON PICKS + CONFERENCE CHAMPIONS CHALLENGE + BONUS POINTS

The instructions above show in detail how the Regular Season Picks, the Conference Champions Challenge, and the Bonus Points are scored and awarded.

In the event of a tie at the regular season’s conclusion, the following criteria will be used to decide a winner (in this order):

  • Over/Under Picks regular season record

  • Spread Picks regular season record

  • Coin Flip if both parties agree. If not, standings will be left as a tie.

Coaching Deadpool and Sportsmanship GPA

It has been decided that the FSL Sporting League will not have a coaching deadpool competition. The Sportsmanship GPA, discontinued since 2019, will also remain unavailable until further notice.

Bowl Challenge

Separate and apart from the regular season, we will have a Bowl Picks Challenge for 2024-2025. Picks will be sent at a later date (December 2024). One point will be given for each correct selection.

  • In the event of a tie, the following criteria will be used to decide a winner (in this order):

    • Over/Under of the National Title Game

    • Spread of the National Title Game

    • Regular Season Final Standings total

    • Coin Flip if both parties agree. If not, standings will be left as a tie.

Leadership

Your Florida Sporting Life Group is run by its Commissioner M. Brandon Marsters. Your Vice Commissioner is Chris Radcliffe.

Voluntary Dues

The Florida Sporting Life has always has been and always will be a FREE and fun competitive league. The options listed below are not required and only recommended to help a charitable organization, or cover the cost of each season’s two (2) trophies.

We are suggesting two ways to make meaningful contributions:

1. Use Paypal to donate to Pinellas Park Church of Christ. Two of our members have faithfully worked as a missionary in Mexico through this church and your donation will further that vision.

2. A local charity or church of your choice.

Leniency Disclaimer

You are in a league that has a human commissioner/picks submitter. As a team with a Christian base, we are completely on the honor system for late submissions. We will excuse the first tardy submission with a vow of truth that you have not looked at scores. Every infraction thereafter is subject to rejection by the Commissioner or Vice Commissioner. Leadership will be as proactive as possible to keep all participants accountable.

A written agreement is required for all participants below. This agreement must be completed by Friday, August 16, 2024 at 500p.
